Introducing the Mecal SW 553 Argus Double Head Mitre Saw

The Mecal SW 553 Argus is a high-performance double head mitre saw with pneumatically positioned outward tilting heads offering cutting angles of 90°, 45°, or 22.5° with mechanical stops for intermediate angles. Featuring a larger 550mm blade and brand new design with LED machine status strips, electronic section height detector, and pneumatic pop-up centre support, this machine delivers exceptional cutting capacity and precision. The large sector plate ensures the most accurate setting of angles, with default positions at 90° and 45°. Also available in R version with extended width of cut and slightly less height for specialized applications.

  • Spray Mist Lubrication System (Optional): Pure oil micro-mist blade lubrication system recommended over the standard soluble system, as it delivers high-performance neat oil in minute, highly controlled doses. Provides a cleaner working environment with no odours or risk of skin irritation sometimes connected with soluble fluids. Each dose can be scaled by adjusting the size of each pulse and the frequency of each pulse for optimal blade performance and extended tool life.
  • Mecal Label Printer (Optional): Thermal label printer for producing barcodes when integrating with a CNC machining centre, or recording job/customer data to attach to the workpiece, ensuring efficient identification and tracking throughout the production process.
  • Italy Vacuum Maxi Vortex (Optional): High-performance swarf extraction system with dual connections to both fixed and mobile cutting units. Using tangential inlets that produce a highly efficient cyclone which easily outperforms similar looking units without this design technology. Fully compliant to handle aluminium, PVC, brass, plastics, and copper with options to cope with a large range of dust-producing materials. The steel container is easily removable for emptying and includes a clean-up hose and tool selection with isolation damper.
  • Sound Insulation – SW555 Version (Optional): Available as factory order with full sound-reducing cabinet and automatic loading doors, significantly reducing operational noise levels for improved workshop conditions. Note: It is not possible to have vacuum swarf extraction with this option. The standard machine has a central collection trough with open ends to sweep out the swarf, or the optional belt conveyor can be fitted.
  • Belt Conveyor (Optional): Available for all versions, but more suited to the SW555 version with enclosed cabinet. Provides efficient automated swarf removal for continuous operation and cleaner workspace conditions.
